General Hebert,

Can you please report to my HQ and bring the elephant. I was not aware that we were actively recruiting elephants or any other African big game. In accordance with CSA rules each Army is entitled to only one elephant – African or two if Asian. You will need to confirm that your elephant is:

a. African or Asian
b. That it is the only elephant in the AotM?
c. And are you claiming the full elephant allowance or just 1/3 in the case of the elephant being under the age of 10?

One morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got in my pajamas I'll never know.

Someone had to use the joke eventually...

Suh, I believe it's African although I haven't checked his passport to confirm.

Suh, my report on the elephant:

1) It is an African elephant, suh, properly documented and registered with immigration and animal control. Getting it past the Yankee blockade wasn't easy, however, and some cost was accumulated smuggling him in.

2) It is, to the best of acting Brevet Command Sergeant Major Nicodemus' knowledge, the only elephant in the Army of the Mississippi.

3) To avoid violating the amount of hours per day juvenile mascots can participate in battle, the elephant is over 10 years old and we're claiming the full elephant allowance.

Your obedient servant,

Those of us in the I Corps are taking all bets which animal will kill the other first! Were giving 3-1 odds that the Gator takes a bite out of the Elephant's neck before Christmas! If you want to put your money on the walking giant then its 5-1 odds that he squishes the Gator into a handbag! Come one and come all!

Odds are subject to change once we determine the full weight of the beast.

Nicodemus and the new addition are getting along pretty well, however house training has become a matter of extreme importance.
