With the upcoming release of Abe Lincoln: Vampire Hunter I feel it necessary to emphasize that we southerners are not, nor have we ever been, vampires.

This is just pure Yankee imagination.

We may appreciate nibbling on a woman's neck but thats about as far as it goes

One does have to be amused with the idea of turning slaveholders into vampires that feast on slaves though. If the story was about Native American vampires feasting on settlers than there would be an outcry about the book/movie being culturally insensitive. But, once again, we poor southerners become villified in the media for the sake of Yankee entertainment.

Where is D.W. Griffith when we need him?

How historically accurate is this movie? I never realised that vampire hunting was a hobby of Abe Lincoln, a damn more exciting than any of my hobbies.

I agree with Blake about the depicting all southerners as vampires, is a gross generalisation. However Blake census records from the period do put the number of southern vampires in the population at 1 in 10, so there is some truth to the movie

The only CSA General I would suspect of being an agent of darkness would be our fine friend General Forrest.

I also always thought Halleck and Butler looked more like Zombies than Vampires.

Blake this whole topic of vampires and zombies is most interesting - a recent study into the ethnicity of today’s politicians and public figures in the US found that 63% of them were Vampires, 27% were Zombies, 9% were of mixed heritage (Vampbies) and 1% were human.

Due to the difference in the political system in Australia the ratio of Zombies to Vampires is more equal

The question will be whether or not Abe Lincoln: Vampire Killer will gross a larger profit than the upcoming film Lincoln starring Daniel Day Lewis?

The film Lincoln is supposed to be incredibly good but probably won't appeal to that 14 - 25 year old set of people that go to the theaters.

Maybe if Johnny Depp played Lincoln.... an odd image of Captain Jack Sparrow saving the Union just flashed in my mind.

hard to believe, that in this the 150 aniversary of the Civil War the best idea hollywood could come up with was a movie about vampires and Lincoln.

and even more shocking is...............people are actually lining up to buy tickets.

what happen to this country..........

The horror genre is the current fad is all. It was comic books just a few years back. I am still hoping we revisit the western genre someday.

There will always be westerns. Its part of our national culture. Just recently, there was "Hell on Wheels" on TV and it was pretty good.

this is more than a fad...............people in this country should be offended by this movie. I certainly am.

there should be riots in the North and the South demanding this obscene film be pulled from the theaters.

if this were a film depicting Mohamed as a vampire slayer, there would be riots around the world.

Mohammad is more a religious figure than Lincoln for sure. Maybe if it was Gandhi the Vampire Slayer than we might see a protest.

These films go all the way back to Night of the Living Dead in the late 60s. They are ridiculous for sure but they do give us something to talk about.

Lets just hope they dont use technology to bring back a likeness of John Wayne and have him fighting zombies.

"Well, pilgrim, that'll be the day those zombies get my cattle!"

Although Clint Eastwood could co-star...

I wonder if JT is working on a Zombie mod for the ACW series?

Um, check this out. How did I miss this one? Exit Humanity about a post-Civil War Zombie uprising. Looks like Cold Mountain except when he returns everyone tries to eat him.

And I'd play that game, Cam! Be sure to keep your officers mounted though for a quick escape. Cannons to the front and definately watch your flanks.

And for those of you who thought FDR was safe from this mess... think again... I kid you not....
