Gents

Just downloaded Overland. If i can do it anyone can!!

My question is,i wish to add the 2d map mod.

The last time i tried to add a mod to a DOWNLOADED game it screwed the map up.

I had tried to add a terrain mod to Campaign Leipzig.

Anyway,i am nervous about adding the 2d road mod.

Has anyone tried it?

Or any advice on how best to do it?

Andy,

It won't cause any ill effects to the game.
Unzip the mods into a folder on your desk top, this way you can see just what files you will be replacing, you can then open the overland map folder and remove the same named files...if you want to save them put them in a new folder named “original map files” or whatever so you can replace them if you ever need to...then move the new unzipped mod files into the map folder.

What kind of map mod are you trying to add to it. It should work we do all sorts of things at the old banshee site.

For Mods, you should be using JSGME (Jonessoft Generic Mod Enabler). This allows you to add and delete mods easily without affecting the original files. I find it absolutely essential.

I do not have a "mod enabler" and I never have had a problem adding any mod to the ACW or Nappy games from HPS.

No, no, the "mod enabler" allows you to add or remove mods without changing the original program. You don't have to worry about what files to replace, or where to put them. I use it for new patches until I'm sure they work. I also use it to change pdts, scenarios, etc., for my own use -- I can then easily remove them when I play someone else.

Interesting. I was still under the impression that HPS/JT games had locked Map files that could not be modified in any way. Likewise with OOB files.

kennon,
with the map mods you are just changing the look of the tiles that make up the map not the actual map itself which is locked as you say.
