General Ernie Sands <salute>
General Joseph C. Meyer submitted a recommendation that the Cabinet award you the ACWGC
Legion of Merit Medal.
Among other things, Genera Meyer stated in his recommendation that:
“General Sands represents ACWGC bedrock. He may be considered as a founding member in that regard who rigorously looked to the structure and observance
of the Club Rules, in the face
of sometimes hostile objection, to keep order in what could have become a loose, wild and chaotic assemblage. The ACWGC's
Legion of Merit Medal can only be awarded by the unanimous consent
of the Cabinet, therefore becoming the highest service award possible for any member. General Sands has already received this award in the past for his work and perseverance as the Department
of Records gatekeeper, the core program that continuously operates with great effect and precision every day behind the scenes. Yet this recommendation
of a second such award must be limited to the merits
of his tenure as the most recent Club President, wherein he struggled to keep the stability and welfare
of the club paramount in his focus and provide a fundamental leadership where few others were inclined to volunteer. If the Cabinet issues this second medal to him, he will be the only ACWGC member so recognized, such recognition providing a standard against which all future awardances will be compared.”
The Cabinet unanimously agrees and, on its behalf, it is my honor and privilege to award you the ACWGC
Legion of Merit Medal.
With my highest regards and respect, Congratulations General Sands!
