Another fight for the future of a major battlefield seems about to start.

The devouring by development is the unfortunate state of affairs these days. Especially in Virginia. Northern and the Richmond area, but also in the Valley now too. I was out at Spotsylvania battlefield last year hiking around. It had been a few years since we'd been out that way. The reconfiguration and growth of Spotsylvania Courthouse itself, though not as mind jarring as other places is right on the park boundary, putting pressure on it & the resources around it.

In terms of Manassas it would be rather dire. That road is nothing but farm land and is very pretty. If any piece is to be saved, doing so to at least where the Little Bull Run flows up to Sudley Springs is absolutely essential. Besides what county government ever lowers residential taxes long term.....

I'm sure Blake, you can speak of such issues too in Tennessee. It all makes places like Shiloh & Antietam all the more precious.

Took me a bit to recall it, but I'm sure this issue is part of the larger ongoing Rural Crescent debate
