Gentlemen,

I am happy to announce the completion of our Last Man Standing Tournament!

We started with 88 participants who battled it out in a single elimination tournament with members being seeded by their OBD point accumulation. Each side fought internally until only one Confederate and one Union member remained from each bracket.

The final contest between Rick Trembley (USA) and Denny Holt (CSA) was fought using WDS Antietam. Scenario 185: Equal Force Fight #3
(What If, 30 Turns) This equal force fight depicts the forces of Beauregard and McDowell. A blind meeting engagement. Entry locations are questionable and can change with each new game. (FOR THE PURPOSE OF THIS SCENARIO, SEVERAL ADDITIONAL FORDS HAVE BEEN ADDED)

After a back-and-forth match, Denny Holt emerged victorious to claim the Championship for the Confederate States of America!

Congratulations to Denny on a well-fought game and tournament.

As part of the prize for his victory, Denny was able to choose a charity which would receive a $50 donation. Denny chose the American Battlefield Trust https://www.battlefields.org/ and the donation was made today to honor that achievement.

It was really great running this tourney! I hope everyone who participated had fun. If you lost, don't worry, so did 87 others! In the end it was all about meeting new people, trying new scenarios, and enjoying the Club-life.

I hope to run a sequel to this in 2023.

In the meantime, Denny Holt, you are the Last Man Standing!

A little bit more about where the $50 donation went to:
https://www.battlefields.org/give/save-battlefields/save-48-acres-cedar-mountain-cedar-creek-forever

TO SAVE 48 ACRES AT CEDAR MOUNTAIN AND CEDAR CREEK
Combined, these 48 acres of hallowed ground at Cedar Creek and Cedar Mountain in Virginia have a transaction value of $939,153 — nearly $1 million. Thanks to a combination of state and federal grants and major gifts, each $1 you give will be multiplied by a factor of $29!

The first tract consists of 3 acres at Cedar Creek, in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, the site of the savage, bloody battle that Confederate and Federal troops both won and lost in the same day. It’s also one of the most threatened battlefields in America.

The second tract is 45 acres at Cedar Mountain, in the Virginia piedmont, where Confederate General Stonewall Jackson rode into the heart of the battle to rally his faltering troops ... and when his rusted saber refused to come out of the scabbard, Jackson wielded it, scabbard and all, to turn the tide of battle.

From one who helped Denny win, by losing to him, my sincere congratulations.

Gentlemen, Sirs! <salute>

Like General Swanson, I was rolled over (blitzkrieg style) by General Holt even though I thought I had set up a pretty good (but not good enough) defense.

General Strickler, a very splendid effort setting up the tournament and all the other fine projects you have contributed these past couple of years!

Barkeep, please a round of your fine mint julep for the winner Brigadier General Denny Holt and please serve General's Strickler and Swanson on my tab too!

Respectfully,

Your Obedient Servant,

General Nick Kunz
Commanding,
2nd Corps, AoT

Thank you for your kind thoughts, gentlemen!

It was my pleasure to have served.

May God have mercy on those poor, misguided Union souls.

Glory to our Colors! Glory to our Army!! God bless General Lee!!!
