Too much 4.0 talk for you?

Come check out https://www.facebook.com/groups/131738165068673 and join in an absolutely off the wall discussion about who your favorite play-by-play announcers would be for a game you are playing.

I went with Bobby Heenan and Vin Scully. We've had Dick Vitale and Sam Kinison thrown out there as well.

If you haven't already joined our Facebook Group... check it out!

Well, no disrespect, but I don't belong to facebook and I am enjoying the 4.0 info.

In fact, I look forward more!

For example, does anyone else have trouble following the Forgotten Battles maps or is it just me?

What do you mean by following the maps? I find the 4.0 map design pretty but less informative. For example, it is now harder for me to see elevation changes and road types when zoomed out. I would also love an option to highlight roads by road type on the jump map.

See Blakes post about imported the map folder from the JTS version. Much easier to see hex outlines and other info. I have had no issues doing this.

I am glad I am not the only one who couldn't make them out very well. I thought I was getting old. You can reload the previous version's maps if you like. Check out the https://wargame.ch/board/acwgc/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=22796 post from January 18.

Thanks Walt and Blake for the info!

I check the Tavern daily but rarely think to check the permanent posts.

Forgotten Battles has no previous JTS version. Can I use the graphics from another JTS version?

The other issue I noticed is that the map in Forgotten Battles appears darker. Does that change with the new graphics?

Sorry, Blake, never intended to hijack your topic!

Yes, I have to use the elevation numbers, and the visible hexes are harder to figure out.

It is a bright new world again when you import the JTS graphics.

Great question about whether it would work in Forgotten Battles. Try it and see (protecting your WDS map folder before you do).

Yes, old maps work in Forgotten.

Will there be any possible program conflict in a game where one player has WDS graphics and the other has imported JTS graphics into his WDS game?

I am in a couple of games where this is the case (I am using imported JTS graphics and others using stock WDS graphics) and no issues have arisen.

I think I will mix and match. Here is the 2D view of 4.0 terrain on the 3.0 ground. The best of both worlds.

That looks about like the trouble that I had with the WDS Overland Campaign map where the color of the fields are too similar to the color of Reb units and at extreme zoom out fields look like Reb units are there.

I wasn't able to verify this because the Overland Campaign game ended before I got a turn back, but when I captured supply wagons, the points for them were shown but the number of supply wagons lost remained at 0.

When you do that AND select Hex Outlines do you get hex outlines?
I have found that in WDS v4 when I have selected Hex Outlines (which is the norm for me) I do not get them in any of the 2D views (the hex outlines only appear in 3D views).

@Quaama
I tested and I don't have any issue with hex outlines in 4.0 with or without changing the map files.
