Gentlemen! The comment period for the Cabinet Downsizing Proposal has ended. As you may have noted, Christian Hecht and Lynn Newell suggest we give it more time before implementing the proposal. Paul Swanson expressed concerns about maintaining a “balance of power” in the Cabinet when the proposal is implemented. The Cabinet has considered these comments and unanimously voted to put the proposal before the Officers of the Club without modification as to its content or timing. Our take is that the hope that others will step forward any time soon is a forlorn one given General Boling’s ongoing attempt to find line Officers of any kind for the UA side. As President, even if such volunteers were now to appear, my preference would be to direct these new volunteers into line command positions, especially AC's, not to the Cabinet. As to concerns about balance of power, I assure you the existing Club rules prevent Cabinet action in the absence of full membership (permanent or interim) and even if they did not, I would not allow the Cabinet to approve or not any action when such circumstances exist. Thus, as required by Club Rule 9.1, the proposal to reduce the size of the ACWGC Cabinet is now brought before you for a vote. The proposal before you is that Club Rule 3.3.2 be modified to read as follows (modified language shown in underlined text). 3.3.2. Cabinet Members. There will be five Cabinet members: Club President, CoA (USA), CoA (CSA), and two Cabinet Secretaries (one Cabinet Secretary representing each military group). No club member may hold more than one seat on the Cabinet at any one time. Vote YES if you wish to implement the proposal to reduce the size of the Cabinet via the proposed rule change. Vote NO if you do not. Additional comments are not requested nor will they be considered at this time. |
