One stormy night in the tavern, 2 Confederate Officers were discussing how the War of Northern Aggression was progressing. While sipping on some good ole Kentucky Bourbon in the back of the room, they could hardly hear each other due to the drunken, profanity laced ramblings of a group of Yankee Officers. One Confederate Officer stated to the other Confederate Officer "This Tavern was established so both sides could co-habitat this establishment, enjoy it's fine spirits and noted epicureanism and cultured conversation". "So why do the Northern Heathens continuously disregard the protocol and act like one evolution above the simians". "My Friend, did you expect anything else?" "We should intervene." "You know the rules and as Southern Gentlemen we took an oath of civility while visiting the M/D Tavern." "Well, I know one Southern Officer who would......No No ...do not mention his name...we only whisper it and then only ......." Suddenly Thunder rang, wind blew the tavern doors open and all lights were extinguished. When the Bartender had the oil lamps re-lit, the Yankees had been incapacitated, their purses taken, and their liquor drank. On the table, was a sprig of Confederate Jasmine, which is grown extensively in the Lakelands of South Carolina. As the Confederate Officers looked at each other ...they whispered the "GRAY WRAITH". "Has returned" Suddenly Thunder rang again and lightning struck across the sky. |
