The ACWGC's Department of Records is arguably the most underappreciated website in the Club. Ours has been ran by Gen. Ernie Sands for many years and has remained an integral and important part of our Club since its creation. I give Ernie my personal thanks for his incredible effort and dedication to keeping the site up and running!

For 2022 we will be "keeping score" in the Department of Records of each completed battle between Union and Confederate Members. Every OBD point earned in a battle, multiplayer, or one-on-one, will count towards your side's accumulative OBD point total in 2022. At the end of the year, we will use the Department of Records database to determine which side's members earned the most total OBD points in 2022. The side who earns the most points in recorded battles will be declared the victor of the Total War 1861 - 1865 Challenge.

The results for June were tabulated and are as follows:

18 CONFEDERATE MAJOR VICTORIES
11 Confederate Minor Victories
9 Draws
4 Union Minor Victories
7 UNION MAJOR VICTORIES

333.45 - Confederate Points earned in May
166.93 - Union Points earned in May

Through six months...
2,803 Confederate Points
2,377.38 Union Points

Agreed and undoubtedly under appreciated, the DoR is a massive resource and indeed a huge benefit to the ACWGC. A club wide vote of thanks to Gen. Sands would be most appropriate given the time, effort and indeed dedication to maintaining the site, for all the members of both persuasions.

The newer members wouldn't know how much work the early admin people put in. Ernie was here when I joined in 1999, I believe he was commanding the AotO then. All the info now stored in the DoR was kept by the admin people in spreadsheets, your game start and end notices, were done by email. Websites were maintained by the army commanders in those days. Some learned html some used free websites that were available with their own webpage builders.

I remember seeing Don Adams at the first Tiller Con in Mechanicsburg, Va in 2005, while others were playing games Don spent a lot of time on his laptop putting the final touches on what would be the DoR. here's a picture from Ernie's flickr page

Ernie also has pictures there from Tiller Con II and III. Don retired from the ACWGC a while ago, not sure exactly when as that is not listed in the DoR. The last time I recall seeing or hearing from him was the See Ya at Antietam in 2009, I don't believe he was at Tiller Con III. I'm not sure if anyone has been in touch with him since he retired. I guess Ernie took over the DoR at that time but I can't say for sure.
