Hello all,

Name's Bill and I'm a new recruit for the Union side. I've been playing JTS/WDS games for almost ten years, but only over the last couple got into PBEM. Still doing my training but I've got Gettysburg and Overland, and I'll probably add Shiloh, Antietam, and another over the holiday sale.

Anyone have any recommendations for which one the "other" should be? I'm leaning toward Peninsula Campaign, but I also would like to broaden my horizons in the western theater.

Hey Bill, welcome to the club .... it is kind of interesting with the recommendations - I might defer that to others, however it sort of ends up being how much might you be playing solo? Peninsula (what with the Chickhominy River playing a pretty big role in some of the scenarios -and the AI isn't always up to managing that very well ... that wouldn't be a factor if you prefer playing solo hotseat, or PBEM [naturally]. There is a pretty wide variety whichever way you go.

Deference meaning - I have them all, but have not played them all ... and I prefer to really get into them to the point where I want to be fairly comfortable/familiar with the topic they're covering.

But also, more importantly than welcome to the club ... welcome to the Union side, sir. :)

Bill, another Very Big Welcome to the finest ACW club anywhere, and from the other side of the fence too Sir !

I regret I cannot assist with your question about recommendations......realistically we should ultimately aim to get them all  although I haven't achieved that yet. Registration for the final tournament of the year, Fight to the Finish, featuring the Franklin & Petersburg games will open in October and a worthwhile way to become involved and finish the year perhaps.

Until we meet across a field of battle someday, <salute> Sir

Welcome to the club and the Union side!
I would say that Peninsula is a good choice, this early offense leading to the gates of Richmond is, despite its historical outcome, very interesting.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I think I'm leaning toward getting Shiloh, Antietam, Penninsula, and Chickamauga. Chickamauga interests me recently since I live not too far from that area and passed by the battlefield site not long ago.

Of course I guess I should probably just go an add one more and get the volume discount. :) Who on here owns some of the more obscure campaigns, and which are your favorite?

You may also like to know that towards the end of the year there is usually a sale on. When I first joined I got by with just one title for a few months then bought up big getting both the sale discount and the volume discount.

As General Swanson quite correctly said, and economics might dictate, sit tight with the two titles you presently have until Christmas. WDS traditionally have a holiday sale during that period and you can pick up a myriad of titles with huge discounts then. Gettsyburg is an all round and hugely popular game so you should have no difficulty in finding a PBEM opponent.

The West has is noted for it's 'gators' and 'snakes' and not for the faint hearted, the Army of Tennessee awaits your coming Suh.

Oh yes, I don't miss the holiday sale. I'm also a big fan of their other series.
