The Queen is dead, long live the King.

Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God Queen of Australia and Her other Realms and Territories, Head of the Commonwealth [and many other titles too numerous to mention here - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_titles_and_honours_of_Elizabeth_II] has passed on at the age of 96. Her majesty was the longest reigning monarch of the English-speaking world (and second overall to Louis XIV).

Like almost every other citizen in the Commonwealth, I've never lived under another monarch, it's been amazing to note the changes.

Very early yesterday morning here there was a recorded video statement from our Prime Minister regarding the matter.
Last night a 96-gun salute (one for each year of her life) was fired at Parliament House. Similar salvoes were fired in Britain and other countries.
Our Parliament has been suspended for two weeks.
All flags have been flown at half-mast since the news and will remain so until after the funeral.
Many regular and scheduled television programmes have been cancelled and replaced with news and historic reviews on the Queen.
On television, internet, and probably radio [which I rarely listen to], our national broadcaster (ABC) has had virtually 'around the clock' items regarding the Queen. [I just checked the internet site, the first twenty-three news items were related to the Queen's death.]
Our currency shall soon change to feature King Charles III (all coins and one banknote currently feature a portrait of the Queen).

Changes in Britain are much more so from what I've seen. The funeral promises to be one of the biggest the world has seen with Westminster Abbey bound to be packed full of world leaders and numerous 'royals'.
