Officers of the Union Army! It is my very good fortune to have been promoted to the rank of General. In lieu of individual thank yous, I have decided to throw open the doors of Willard’s in Washington for a weekend celebration to which all are welcome. If your duties allow, it would do me great honor to host you at this festive gala. No RSVP required and no uniform is specified. Come as you are and stay as long as you may comfortably absent yourselves from your commands. I hope to see you there…. The drinks are of course on me! |
