Gentlemen <salute>!

Whereas Bg. General Thomas Marshall was nominated as a candidate seeking election to the Office of President of the ACWGC; and,

Whereas as of 1700 hours PST December 5, 2022, no other nominations have been received by the Cabinet; and,

Whereas Club Rule 3.3.4.1.7 states: “In the event only one candidate has been nominated by the end of the nominating period, that candidate will be elected by acclamation and no vote will be necessary,”

I hereby declare that Bg. General Thomas Marshall has been elected by acclimation as the President of the ACWGC.

My thanks to the Cabinet for their service in this election and my congratulations to our new President!

Thank you very much all, and I wish to pay particular thanks to General Dortch for his stellar two years of service as the outgoing ACWGC President. Walt has been extremely kind since I decided to run. I know I shall often ask him for advice in the future.

Just because I have been elected ACWGC President, it doesn't mean I have all the ideas or all the answers, so I would like to make clear that I am always listening for any thoughts which might benefit the members of the ACWGC as a whole. If something's on your mind, please send a courier to tom.carlingtonne@googlemail.com and let's explore the art of the possible.

By great good fortune, a blockade runner has recently succeeded in bringing over a substantial quantity of Sussex sparkling wine so please take a glass or three & let's seek to enjoy these fantastic games & the company of our fellow officers, whether currently serving in blue or grey.

General Marshall! <Salute>

Congratulations Thomas and thanks for being willing to serve as the Club's 8th President! It's great to see the newer members continuing to step forward and lend a hand! I'm glad you found your way back to the games from the days of playing the old Talonsoft ones. Very much enjoyed your comment in the other post about Tom Berenger and Sam Elliott. From Northamptonshire, home of the mighty 48th and their famous bayonet charge at the Battle of Talavera!

General Dortch! <Salute>

Thank you Walt for the fantastic job you did leading the Club into a new chapter of it's history! Your hard work will be a benefit for us all for years to come! Now you get to enjoy the fun part of sitting back and having fun gaming!

Three cheers for General Dortch & Marshall!

Huzzah, Huzzah, Huzzah!!!

Scott,

I love that you've heard of the 48th and their remarkable fight at Talavera! Although I should say I was born near Chelmsford and grew up near Colchester, so the 44th would have been my local regiment (they had bad luck at the Monongahela & Gandamack but did capture an eagle at Salamanca). I'm up here because I married a Midlands girl :) Thank you for the kind words, Sir.

All the best,

Tom

You're welcome Tom!

Now the 44th East Essex, that's a whole other tier! Picton & Pack at Waterloo, brigaded with the big boys....the Gordon's, Black Watch and Royal Scots! Units that'd make Lee, Grant, Sherman and the others dream over. :D

Many a time I've pushed the 44th's digital counter across the screen in WDS' Napoleonics & Early American Wars series! They've gotten me out of a bind or two, that's for sure!

The former CSA Army of Georgia's one AC, Andy Burke was from the London area and commanded the 44th at the CCC for many years.
