Currently the MDT is undergoing some tech renovations. Scott Ludwig is working on this and hopes to have our Rebel forums back open soon. Also down are numerous other forums such as the Smoking Room and the entire Cabinet forum.

We appreciate everyone's patience.

So, you are going to make me drink milk at some Union dive - appalling. Not sure I can hold out for more than 10 minutes without a stiff drink at a Confederate Tavern.

Much appreciated Suh! It will delay the onset of the gremlins by at least six hours.

Och aye, I canae be consorting with ruffians n drunkards, an Officer & Gentleman of the CSA, and most particularly the AoT, is expected to have a 'hip flask' at all times with explicit instruction to his orderly that it be kept...topped up !

Gentlemen,

Thank you for your patience, and I am sorry that things are taking so long to get back to normal. Scott & I are in regular contact & I am updating both Blake & Jim as we go. Please expect another update a week or so into April.

Happy gaming in the meantime!

Hi Tim,

First of all, thank you to you and everyone else for your patience. Scott has recruited a programmer named Sergio Porres that he knows from the Napoleonic Wargames Club who has kindly agreed to see if he can help us out. Sergio now has access to the forums & is working to see if he can resolve matters. I anticipate another update at the beginning of next month - rest assured we would all love to reinstate the various missing forums ASAP.

I hope it is fixed soon, I really like Civil War 2 it is incredible and I hope to one day find an opponent.

Carry on Scott and company.

I don't understand. If the MDT is 'down', how are we able to post these replies? :(

Hey DW!

It's the CSA forums that are down. The MDT is working, though there were some small issues with it at the beginning of the year. Either way sending a follow up next month to the person looking into things further for us.

It's been almost eight months now. If it can't be fixed in that amount of time, I think it's best to try something else.

I appreciate the fact that they forums still technically exist, but it may be best to leave them in their state of slumber. It's mainly CSA forums that have disappeared from easy view so just create some new ones under the 'CSA Private Forums' heading. A new 'Smoking Room' should then be created in the sector for ACWGC members only. Rename them if you must (to avoid possible coding conflicts) but please give us back our forums.

Hi Paul,

Apologies for the slow reply. I understand your frustration & please believe me when I say the entire Cabinet would like to see this website back to its former glory as soon as possible. I appreciate this has been eight months, but given this is a voluntary organisation with no funding, we are reliant on the good will of our members and the contacts of our members to resolve issues.

That said, we have asked for some specialist help here & a potential solution about to be trialled. I am no technical expert, but my understanding is that it is unwise to adjust the forum setup while hope of a fix remains, because you may inadvertently cause another error. If the potential fix turns out to be a bust, then by all means, we can certainly discuss trying what you suggest.

There will be a survey coming in the autumn which will seek to take the temperature of members on all manner of issues, and in particular what websites and forums are actually necessary in 2023 for the smooth running of the ACWGC. The whole Cabinet, and myself in particular, are always looking for fresh ideas and approaches, so by all means, if anyone would like to get in touch, please feel free to do so.
