Gentlemen <salute>

I appreciate this is not quite the venue for my request but I value the wide, varied and indeed focused range of experience of our members, hence my post.

I only have, at this time, PzC. Scheldt '44 for WW2 in my collection and have little if no experience of the WDS PzC engine generally. Whilst I have looked and messed with it, I have never truly played it either against the AI or PBEM. Being a huge fan of WW2, Normandy, Bulge & Market Garden in particular, it is my intention to do so sooner rather than later ! PzC. Bulge '44 is on my hit list, Market Garden is included in Scheldt so it only leaves PzC. Normandy, which as is generally accepted, a monster 'slugfest'

My question: Is Panzer Battles, Battles of Normandy, a more approachable beast, operationally & tactically and having regard to my only having played mainly CWB series games here for the past 12 months. Company/Platoon/Section level, 30 min. turns, 250 meter hex scale seems more in keeping with the CWB scales than those of the Panzer Campaign series.

Apologies for going 'way off' period but if I post elsewhere I'm going to get a 'deluge' of conflicting responses

My thanks, gentlemen, for indulging me.

The biggest difference is scale, PC 1 KM hex and 2 hour turns large units vs PB 250 m hex, 30 minute turns a smaller units. You can't go wrong with either (or both).

If you want to try out Sheldt v4.01 let me know.

Thank you Sir, your insights are appreciated and indeed as you say...I can't go wrong with both, ultimately I suppose :o

I appreciate your kind offer for Scheldt and regret that at the present time my CWB 'dance card' is rather full and the grey matter will only allow of so much  . I shall however file your offer away and hope to take you up upon it at some stage in the future if I may.

<Salute> Sir,

I have both games and have played PzC Normandy a good bit pbem and PzB Normandy a little, some good short scenarios in both. Have played the large campaign scenarios against the AI partway through a couple times, I think the PzB version does a little better job of showing how the small unit actions during D-Day were crucial to the breakouts. The AI is a little better in these games than the CWB series but it still does not know when to retreat making it much easier to surround and isolate units than a human player.
