What determines how and how far a unit moves after it routs ? Does it help to have units behind the front line in order to decrease the distance a unit routs? I am working on ways to deploy a brigade to limit routing |

I am working on ways to deploy a brigade to limit routing I don't see a specific hex # in the User Manual. Some factors will alter a retreat. With that said, I would say on average 4 hexes. |

What determines how and how far a unit moves after it routs? A number of things but mainly: terrain; presence of enemy units; and presence/number of friendly units. Does it help to have units behind the front line in order to decrease the distance a unit routs? That will not help decrease the distance a unit routs unless 'the number of men in a hex plus the number of routing men' exceeds the hex limit. For example, if the hex limit is 1,000 men and a unit of 400 men is routing the routed unit will happily rout through any hex containing 600 or less men. Friendly units that it routs through will then be Disrupted. I am working on ways to deploy a brigade to limit routing There are ways to limit it (I'll send you a pm) but sometimes there's not much you can do about it. |
