Was at a Target store today and saw a new bull run game by Activision, it sells for $19.99. Has anyone gotten it and played it, graphics are quite different from the HPS series.

I got a copy of the game on Friday, and played it for a little while that night. The graphics are really something, just like the graphics for PS2 the sound effects are really great. I played a battery commander and that was something.

I've not only played it. I was so impressed I started a fan site for it. There is a new review up at www.wargamer.com for anybody interested. They gave the game their Award For Excellence, so I'm not the only one who thinks highly of it. The review is at:

This game is now taking over far to much of my spare time! it runs in true real time which means at times not a lot is happening depending on what level you are playing at. At the price it is a true bargin and I would highly commend it. You get your orders and start to respond and then find out the AI commanders arround you have decided not to advance with you, what fun!

*sigh* Just got it in, and now I find out that my computer doesn't have the graphics for this... not sure it's worth $100+ to mess with... though may need it for Empires in Arms anyway

Gary,

Recently updated my graphics to a Radeon 128 MB AGP card for $99 with a $40 mail in rebate at Comp USA with the intention of picking up this game. My PC is just 18 months old but it only had 8 MB of onboard graphics. Suggest you keep your eyes open for similar deals if you're interested in updating your grahics capabilities.

Gary,

Check out newegg.com. They have daily speials that are often unreal! Today they had a 300gb HD for 169.00. A little while ago they had a Nvidia 6800 GT 128 MB card for 119.00. Just a thought :-)

You sure about the Nvidia 6800 GT for $119? Maybe $219, but not less than that without some real good rebate. If you see that deal again, let me know 'cause that's a STEAL! [:p]

Gentlemen,

I have been testing out my copy of Bull Run Take Command and have conculded that it is just too much for my Dell Dimension 4550 Computer (I run the XP system). The play starts off fine however, when ever I get into the heat of battle or when ever more than one brigade is engaged, every thing slows down to a standstill. The delay is so long you can not really take command of the action. This one will go on the shelf until I upgrade my system.[:(] For what that is worth.......

Hey Col. Mishurda Suh,
I got a copy of BUll Run Take COmmand and run it on a Gateway 700X with Win. XP. Its about three years old, I've upgraded the memory from 256 to 512 and it runs ok, I've got the performance set at min. They got a patch for it already and downloaded it the other day and it improved the graphics very much. will need to upgrade my video card though.
