My conversation with Bill Peters reminds me of my favorite parts of Ken Burns "Civil War".
During Atlanta's Siege Sherman commented about the reporters all around and said (paraphrasing) "If you killed them all today we would have reports from hell by breakfast."
Hmmmm...some grain of truth in there. [:D]
Also a rider with Forrest said after they had blown up a train tunnel that Sherman's Army was using on a raid in Sherman's rear. He was said to have "not been impressed as he was sure Uncle Billy had a spare in his pocket."[:D][:D]
