Post subject:  Problem Installing BGG Gettysburg

Gentlemen:
I need to reinstall my TS BGG program. I have installed the program from the disk. I have updated to 1.34 from the TS patches. I have updated to the Tiller 32 bit version. The program fails to show or allow PBEM. It simply doesn't exist. What am I screwing up here? Any help would be appreciated. I am in the middle of a battle and would really like to be able to finish it. Thanks.

BTW, I am now using the XP operating system if that makes any difference.

This is new to me to Jim but when receiving a pbem...try this....This might get you closer to what you are looking for.

*Open game using BG appication file
*Select a module
*At Open Dialog, Cancel
*Go to Special
*Hit Play by email
*Go to file in module and open

Thanks for the suggestion, but no dice. When I open the program, I do not get the "Special Options" choice which allows the PBEM. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and updated, but I am at a loss.

Confederate Spies I suspect, attempting to secure a victory.

That is a mighty strange problem. I play on the win98 platform, so I have little experience on the xp system. When you look into the program files do you find that the directories/files for pbem or anything like it even exist. Can you save a game without pbem? Do the dates on the files line up all to the time of your most recent install? Just thoughts, but I am also at a loss, although I intend not too lose.

Try this:

Use the BGG.EXE file to open the program. (NOT the BG_start.exe)Then choose the correct module, i.e. BG. Then continue as Col Daley recommends.

Gentlemen: I have tried your suggestions. I still cannot get to the PBEM function. It does not exist in any drop down menu choices, nor does the Introduction Screen contain a choice for special options. Is it possible that my original disk is fouled? How can the PBEM function simply disappear?

Jim,

Don't take this the wrong way but I believe it just says "Play by email". I send you a screen shot if I can.....

Make sure you get your 1.34 patch from here http://www.hc-llc.net/games/patches.html not from Talonsoft. Maybe that's the problem.
