Post subject: | 5PM day 1 |
As MG Johnson rode down the pike towards the town, his band playing "Bonnie Blue Flag", he could not help but to feel elated. It was always thus for him. The sound of guns, the rebel yells, soon it would be his time.... Rodes was in good position to defend, the [XIICORPS] would have to take some casualties to advance on him. A rider with news that Johnson was but an hour away and comin hard. And there is a surprise of sorts awaiting them blue lines in his front...... Early had taken the town, but his boys were tiring. Yet the yankees in his front were exhausted too. And with the weight of Andersons' entire division fighting to the sunken road, all he had to do was push a wee bit more, and many a yankee would be marching back to Dixie as prisoner.... Anderson was there, in the orchard, watching as his masses of men confronted the enemy. A thin line of defenders, then the guns. > 5PM Day 1 > > General Reynolds was both satisfied and disgusted. > His Corp had stood up to Heth and then Pender, he > was not surprised when Anderson arrived but now he > was licked, The boys had bought time and punched two > reb Divisons in the nose but where was the > reinforcemnts he had so desperatley asked for?
