The union left was folding like a cheap suit now, small units trying to stand and fight only to be overcome by superior firepower. Johnson saw this and was glad. McLaws arrival would now allow a severe push on the hill itself. The troops had held the night thru and now were ready to take the fight to the yankees. What now of the left flank?
