Post subject:  new private looking for pbem seargent to train:-)

Hi,
I am a totally untested newbie.recevied my copy of campaign gettysburg a couple weeks ago and have been figuring it out ever since.I am looking for a PBEM player who doesn"t mind giving an amatuer pointers.I prefer to play reb but will play yank since I"ve had kin that were both die in the war.
I would prefer to start with small scenarios and work my way upto full campaigns.
I see most of you have full military rank and titles.I reached e-4 specialist in desert storm but I don"t think that applies here:-)Is it common practice to use your real name or just take a real figure from the war and apply it to yourself.Could i take my 4th gr grandads name and apply it to myself.he was killed in the war but was a ky calvary guerilla.i know of no kin yet at gettysburg but had yank kin on dads side.
let me know if anyone wants to train a rank private.
Al

Al,

Stop on by the main page:

Have a look around. You have to join either the USA or CSA and the training schools each side have will help work with you to get your basics down and teach you what you need to know.

As for your name, it is preferred that you use your real one, but I leave it to higher authority to confirm that as oppsoed to an ancestors name.

Welcome either way, glad you found us! I hope you find your time here fruitful!!

You can join either side in the club. There are no restictions on game play, so a Reb could play as the Union and vice versa in any scenario.

The assigned unit is more for historical purposes than for game play.

Exactly what Ernie siad. It's all as an extra perk or flavor for the club members. There's the roleplay side, this, and then the game side, the games itself.
