Myself plus Gary K. and Gary H. are looking for some Union players for the Surprise at Dawn scenario of Gettysburg.
Need opponents that can have good turnaround time for emails since this is a 256 turn scenario. Luckily it seldom goes that long before one side or the other throws in the towel.

For those not familiar with "Surprise at Dawn var II" it was developed some years ago for one of the ACWGC tournaments. It tries to balance out some of the worse problems of historical Gettysburg by adding some troops to both sides and giving more supply for artillery and infantry. It also uses a very large map extending from Bendersville and Heidlersburg in the north to south of Taneytown.

The Union gets the VIII Corps and the CSA gets D. H. Hill's IV Corps. The divisions get two supply wagons each. Artillery ammo starts at over 15,000.

The initial positions start with just some of Stuart's cavalry on the map plus Heth's division near Cashtown for a total of 17,500 Rebs. Against that the Union starts with 46,075 men on the map. The position of the troops I believe is historical along with arrival times of everything but the two new Corps and Stuart. They are deployed with IV Corps entering NW of Emmitsburg and VIII Corps on the same road near the Moncacy River.

Main divergences from historic is presences of Stuart's cavalry and the two new Corps. I believe this changes the forces to where Union has only about a 20,000 man advantage in numbers. Never seen this one played out for enough to know.

If you don't have a copy of Surprise at Dawn I can send it to you.

Kennon,

Can't commit to a game right now but I would be interested in looking at the scenario.
Interested in seeing where the other two Union cavalry divisions are deployed seeing as how they are not chasing Stuart.

You can email me through the forum.
