I'm a USA noob- Class of Dec 25. I just finished playing a scenario (Campaign Antietam- 192 Meet Chantilly) as USA and am interested in trying it from the other side, with me playing as CSA. Some details on the battle
here.
Now the version I played (192) didn't include weather effects (kind of important, what with it being conducted in a thunderstorm), but there is 198 (Meet_Weather_Chantilly) which looks to include weather effects (if anyone can help me confirm or comment on that appreciated)? If possible and it works, I'd prefer to play 198 with with weather effects to simulate actual conditions on the day.
A few notes:
1) Noob to WDS yes, but not wargaming (or ACW history) in general, one of my 1st wargames was AH Gettysburg (1977 Edition), also SPI ACW Quads, a gleam of Bayonets (TSR), Battle of Shiloh (West End Games) for those with longer memories.
2) Bear in mind for ACWGC this'll be a regular battle for a CSA member, a maneuver battle for a USA member points-wise, either is fine with me.
3) I can commit to a turn every 2 days or so, daily if I can. I'm GMT time zone so if you're state-side you'll likely see a turn every late afternoon (11pm GMT=5pm EST). If you've a slower schedule than this (within reason), no problem, there's not that many moving parts here.
4) Open to discussing any and all optional rules- maybe baseline all ON except the following: Manual Defensive Fire, Artillery Capture, Extreme Fog of War, and Limited Artillery Unlimber?
5) Happy to discuss any aspects of play, and any help as a WDS ACW noob would be greatly appreciated.
