This is going to be a (possibly long) series of posts that provide some tips for playing and utilizing the club (this is not a club sanctioned series of posts). These posts will be sporadic, as I may post one per day for several days in a row and also may go several days in a row without a post. They will also typically be short. I play with Turns (MDF option off) and Optional Melee Resolution on, so if you play with Phases or without Optional Melee Resolution then some of what I will say will not pertain to you. You will have to decide when that is because I won’t be telling you. Disagreement and discussion is welcome as what I say may need clarifying, plus I may learn some stuff too. I assure you that I am not the club’s worst player, but I can also assure you that I am not the club’s best player, but I guess that I don’t mind embarrassing myself. These posts will be numbered sequentially and hopefully have some value to both Yank and Reb.

Here is the first one:

1. If you have a stack of units that are in danger of being surrounded, do not concentrate but spread out instead. Make them have to utilize more movement points than they have in order to isolate you.

General Simms, Sirs! <salute>

Ned, I am always on the lookout for some tidbit of information that may or may not mean anything in the long run!

So I am looking forward to your postings and some discussions on them.

Say, is there going to a bar set up and offering General Officers some libation? That is sure to draw a crowd!

Respectfully submitted,

Your Obedient Servant,

General Nick Kunz
Commandant,
Vicksburg Military Institute

Well, that surely would be factor in evaluating their authenticity and value.

I mean, if you were suggesting these lessons were being posted based on winning tactics by Braxton Bragg, for example, I would have no manuscript in progress.

Very respectfully,

Things learned from Braxton Bragg:

#1 If you are winning it's a enemy trick leading you into disaster, retreat immediately.
