Because we can all use a vacation I propose we head to Pohnpei in 2022 for our next meeting. Pohnpei sits north of Papua New Guinea in the Caroline Islands as part of Micronesia. It is arguably the furthest we can go from the USA to visit a Civil War site. The CSS Shenandoah sunk four Yankee whaling ships there in the harbor in April 1865. I'm just saying if we wanted to take a tropical adventure to a land where the average yearly temperature is 79 degrees then we couldn't do any better. Could we convince our wives that we HAD to go all the way to Pohnpei? Checking the most illusive Civil War "battlefield" of them all off the list should be reason enough! We check-in at the Pacific Treelodge Resort, put on some bug spray and sunscreen, and head out to swim the harbor where the CSS Shenandoah did battle.

We then spend the rest of the week exploring the island, fishing, playing games, and maybe hopping a plane over to Port Moresby to take in some WW2 history. We'd be close enough to Cam's neck of the woods where he and the other members from the real deep, deep, south, might even join us.

If we have any eccentric millionaires in the Club looking to fund this let me know.

Any eccentricities willing to share? :-) It's closer to me than the States will ever be... (Cam is closer, he's further North!)
