Thanks to all. I was at the battlefield for the first time this past week, and although I have played 1st Bull Run about a dozen times, the historical version was quite different than any of my gaming experiences! I just realized as I was walking behind Jackson's Virginians on Henry House Hill, that I didn't know all that much about the battle, having never read a specific account.
I really like Hennesey's 2nd Bull Run - he used to be the head Park Service guy at the battlefield (now down at Petersburg, according to the volunteer at the Visitors Center when I asked for their recommendation on a book).
I ended up with Davis' book, it seemed more substantial than End of Innocence, and I didn't like the cover and type in that one...
