ACWGC Army of Georgia
Divisional War Games

Officers of the Army of Georgia & CSA Staff Officers

This year the Army of Georgia will conduct Divisional War Games while we are in Winter Camp. Sign up below by Nov. 15 to join the fight. Be sure and indicate which of the three game titles you own.

All AoG Officers, ET and CSA Staff Officers are eligible to play and will be assigned to Divisional teams. Make plans to complete at least one battle for your Division between December 1 and April 1.

Three very unpredictable one-day battles to choose from. Play one or play them all.

HPS Gettysburg – The Battle of Brandy Station (!HISTORICAL 2. The Battle of Brandy Station - June 9, 1863) is a 47 turn cavalry engagement across a wide map split by the Rappahannock River. Brandy Station is the largest mounted engagement known to have been fought on American soil. This is fun little scenario that offers a lot of possibilities to both sides. There is much more to the background than the scenario notes indicate. For some interesting reading you might start with Brandy Station from civilwar.org http://www.civilwar.org/battlefields/brandy-station.html
Image

HPS Antietam – Cedar Mountain (Cedar Mountain, August 9th, 1862 Meet) is a 21 turn meeting engagement that is winnable be either side. There is enough room for some real maneuver options to develop and the suspense is heightened with the meeting engagement format. This battle was a near run thing. Attacks and counter-attacks were hard fought. You can view the battlefield at Cedar Mountain from civilwar.org http://www.civilwar.org/battlefields/cedar-mountain.html

BG Shiloh – The Battle of Wilson’s Creek
, August 10, 1861 (01) is an 18 turn fight over some of the richest terrain graphics of any of our games. Two very green forces experience serious combat for the first time and either side can score a great victory with some pluck and luck. I read Wilson’s Creek: The Second Battle of the Civil War and the Men Who Fought It, Piston & Hatcher, 2011 over the summer and recommend it for an in-depth account of the fascinating political and military events leading up to the battle. There is a nice map and overview at Wilson's Creek from civilwar.orghttp://www.civilwar.org/battlefields/wilson-s-creek.html

Suh,

Please sign me up for all three. Are there any set rules (options) like the RBC tournament?
I like to play non-phase for the HPS titles, but I am guessing it is up to you and your opponent to
come up with an agreement on options?

Your obedient servant,

General Swan,

If you have need of my saber... just give a hoot & a holler and the Phantom Cavalry will come a runnin.

I can be in the vicinity of either Brandy Station or Cedar Mountain if needed. If you find yourself with more Confederates than Yanks... I will gladly watch the action from the nearest ridge! <salute>
