I have no idea how I should play this. It's an a historical scenario that brings the Confederates on near even, maybe, terms with Grant's boys.

The scenario map is the Port Gibson map split in two by Bayou Pierre. I've got troops, Bowen's Division, blocking the road direct to Port Gibson. They're on the north side of the bayou behind earthworks. The suspension bridge is out, I think. The Grindstone Ford is way farther down the bayou to the east. Loring's and Stevenson's Divisions are going to come in north of the bayou from the north and east. Historically, Loring thought about attacking Grant somewhere here, but then thought the better of it because he had no idea where Grant was exactly. I don't either, other than he's for sure got some people at Port Gibson.

Thoughts? Advice?

Earned a minor Rebel Victory in this Lt's Cup match. 3067 Union casualties to 335 Confederate. Union had two officers killed, E.S. Dennis and G.B. Boomer. S.A. Holmes was wounded. The Confederates lost no officers and no Confederate objectives were taken by the Union.

This scenario is actually quite challenging for the Union player. They've got to try and build bridges in the face of Confederates defending the bridges. It's not easy, although they're better lead and there are more of them.

It is good to see someone at this dusty old tavern, I shall stand you a few rounds of drinks Lieutenant to celebrate your victory and you being called to the colours. I am a firm believer in the old saying "What does not kill you can only make you stronger" so lets drink until it hurts.
