All,

Our own Phil Natta has created a new page, which allows you to answer 5 different questions relating to the club. So go up and take the poll and let's see what the membership thinks about these questions...

http://cccbritisharmy.homestead.com/files/Poll.htm

This is also linked off the main page...and we'll come up with new questions as times goes on.

Rich

OK I went there and the first poll was "Are you interested in a club-wide medal program" ... you don't tell me that after the weeks of work we put into that program it will be voted down??? <img src=icon_smile_angry.gif border=0 align=middle>

Dierk: I don't think Phil was involved in those discussions and the POLLS are not binding, but another tool to get a feel of the membership on various issues.

Ernie - you know the problem about not-binding popular votes: you <u>can</u> do precisely the opposite, but in the face of an unanimous vote - would you? <br>
(I know the polls are in favor of a medal program, but nevertheless, if you put a lot of work into something and AFTER IT'S FINISHED - and I mean finished to the last damned tag - someone goes around and asks the club public "do you want this" it looks like he wants to put a spoke in your wheel.)

DS, You brits just don't get it. Let the people vote or are you going to cram down our throats a medal tax much like your hated stamp tax. I can see it coming now, your bill collectors trying to collect a medal tax, its evil, pure evil, and these colonies do not have to stand for this Down with the King!!!Down with the Medal tax!!!

You don't have all your facts on straight Mr. Walter. Ernie was right, I have no idea about any current medals program. It was merely a question to determine interest in such....purely out of curiosity. The voting results have no teeth or importance other than that. The polls can't directly veto or support anything. As far as "putting a spoke in your wheel", why would I want to do that? I'm hoping I'm eligible for a chest full of medals myself! <img src=icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle>

Indeed, together with Gen. Coffey, you are eligible for about every damned medal that is on the list ... but you can still call me Sergeant, Mister, or I shall take offence. I think challenging a superior officer to a duel is still possible in 1812, is it not, SIR?? <img src=icon_smile_evil.gif border=0 align=middle>

I believe the term "Mr.____" was a casually acceptable military custom on occasion. But aside from that Sarge, you raise an interesting point about challenging a superior officer to a duel. Now no offense was intended at all, but I don't back down from challenges by Yankee Lt. Colonels, let alone Sergents of either side. At any rate, shall we take this to the courtyard and leave this place for peaceful voting discussion? <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

Well, Col., I agree that this has become a entirely personal issue, so let's conduct it without unwanted witnesses .... <img src=icon_smile_evil.gif border=0 align=middle>

I'm with High Head on this one - down with the Medal Tax! Take the poll BUT avoid the Poll Tax! Drink less tea and more wine! One man, one vote! Death to tyrants!

Rich you did it! Sergeant Walter and I couldn't find any seconds who were sober enough to even load our pistols. The duel was a non-event.

I'd fight you without seconds, Colonel!! The truth is, you didn't even show up! <img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle>
