It was great statements like this that caused Lafayette to want to bring the same to France. I wonder how many people in the world wish they had the same religious liberties that we have.

I must say that I wouldnt want to be in those judge's shoes that voted for this change. I mean even their own fellow judges and many politicians are looking at it as if they must be off their rocker.
There is not enough room on this board to fill the testimonies that would come out about how great God is and what he has done for many of us. Suffice it to say that I dont think He is very happy either.
Whether the judges or politicians disagree it is more important what God thinks. And I would think that again he must be shaking his head at the so called knowledge of man.
When it comes down to it - we are not really so smart at all. And it is judges like this that make it much more apparent.

Hate to rain on your parade, gentlemen, but what right does the federal government have to force a child attending a public school to affirm a belief in God (and they are forced, as we all know that few kids will agree to opt out of the Pledge and risk the fury of their classmates and teachers)? What if the child was forced to state, in public school, that he did not believe in God? It could happen in the future if we had a drastic change in our government. Neither alternative is proper, in my opinion.

By the way, the Pledge, as it was written in 1892, did not include the words "of the United States of America" or "under God". They were added later by Congress, over the objection of the author and his descendants.

You may be right - take out the pledge from the schools. I mean this is one big global villiage now isnt it?
What you will see replacing it will be the pledge to the Antichrist. That pledge wont go away and those that oppose it get their heads cut off.
You may scoff all you want at this - I think that if you told Abe Lincoln that they would be taking God's name out of the books in our schools some day he would have scoffed too!
I am not for a mandatory pledge and feel that peer pressure towards individuals that dont take the pledge is wrong as well.
No child should have to take a pledge forcefully until he comes to the knowledge of what it is all about. It is just like baptism in our Baptist church - we dont force a child to be baptised. They must know what they are doing AND have their parents approval.
If you dont approve of your child taking the pledge then dont have them take it.
The school has long ago passed from being a place where I expect good religious and patriotic training to be accomplished. The home is the pillar and ground of teaching children how to live. The church is the pillar and ground of the truth. When churches give up that honor and try to compete with the world for attendance then they have lost their candlestick. Their light goes out and they are just another place to be on Sunday. Much like what our schools have become for Monday-Friday. Yes, I am a affiremd Home /Private/Christian school advocate. Sure, provide free education but give vouchers to parents that want to send their kids to private schools.
