Post subject:  Quiz for my compatriots

After reading and failing to guess several excellent quiz questions I wanted to offer one of my own: When Genl. Washington led his Army south from New Jersey to Yorktown approx 1/3 of the soldiers marched around Philadelphia while the remainder marched through the city to the admiring gazes of the populace. Why did some men miss the passage through Philly?

Ernie makes a good point; even in the days before gas stations men would NEVER stop to ask for help in navigational affairs. Al has the answer. So ill-dressed were some of our patriotic forefathers (or forefaddas if youse is from da Bronx) that their impression on the populace would have been improper, and in some cases indecent. Ragged breeches and trousers, bare feet, and blankets worn as an outer garment would have been considered too indelicate for public consumption.

MUHAHAHAHA....gentlemen, there's nothing better than a nice warm pair of leopard skin thigh high booties, and silk breeches, and sumptuous velvet-lined red jackets of course, and shamefully tax-wasteful huge tricorns adorned with peacock feathers, and oh yeah...cozy warm red longjohns for these winter campaigns. [8D] "Blankets worn as outer garments"!!!...MUHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! [:D] Jeeves, pass me another fresh imported kerchief please...I've carelessly dropped that one on the floor. [:p]
