| Post subject: | Worm problems |
I seem to have found a worm in my pc that when on the Internet pops up a error message about an RPC (Remote Procedure Call) error and gives me one minute before I get my system shut down. I have looked for info on this (takes awhile when you get shut down about every half hour) and found a mocrosoft patch to prevent this (I think) but don't know if further action needs to be done. Does anyone else know of this or what to do? |

Note that you can have the same symptoms, but not have the worm. It seems to be a known vulnerability in Windows, and it's probably advisable to download all security updates. |

Yeah Dierk you are not alone. The entire University of Wisconsin computer network got affected by this little worm. I can't say about all the campuses but ours spent a great deal of time going to user stations getting rid of it. ugh, |

Thanks for the thoughts and links. I think I was able to fix the problem. Seems an awful lot of people I know even around town have gotten this thing[xx(] |
