Post subject:  Battle of Sullivan's island 1776

British attempt to sieze Charleston, SC. They fail to reduce Ft Moultrie, and sail to New York. Clinton is in command of the land forces that total some 2,200 army troops and 700 marines.

Does anyone have any information on what the army units would be?

I do know they're not the 42nd or the 71st as they were enroute to America from England at the time. Interesting tidbit about that voyage... a storm scattered the transport fleet. One ship was taken by an American warship. It had a company of the 42nd and a company of the 71st on board. The Highlanders retake the ship, and with help of the ship's carpenter they are able to get to Virginia, where they were taken as prisoner, again. Two other transports attempted to make harbor at Boston, not realizing it was no longer in British control. They were attacked by a US Brig and some smaller vessels. The 300 Highlanders on board the two ships fought back for nearly a hour before being forced to surrender. Now there's a scenario begging to be made! [:D]
