I must say, I haven't been so fooled in my entire carreer. In a 72 turn game at Sackett's Harbour, part of an 1814 campaign, 17 turns into the game, still dawn, I am advancing on a broad front ... no rebels. None. I don't really expect to bump into any during the dawn turns, but now it's day ... Still no rebels in sight. Well, they have to be somewhere. I start looking around on the map ... and for the first time notice an exit objective right on my left flank. Wow. Has he exited any troops? I open the victory dialogue for the first time, and alas!, I see an American major victory with 1869 (!!) VP. The good colonel has removed his entire army before we even made contact. Probably wouldn't even have occurred to me that he would do that, had I noticed the exit objective ... but then I never did. My hat's off to Colonel Kling for tricking me so thoroughly. As I said, I haven't been had like that in 150 or so games. [xx(] |
