Post subject: | Weapons of the American Revolution |
Starting off with the Ferguson Rifle, used by the British Light infantry at Brandywine under "Pattie" Ferguson. Here are some nice links about the weapon: http://www.cr.nps.gov/history/online_bo ... /hh22m.htm http://johno.myiglou.com/ferguson.htm http://americanhistory.si.edu/militaryh ... asp?ID=635 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferguson_rifle From what I gather the rifle was only used at Brandywine. I would like hear more on this from you guys that know more about the period. Should the "English Rifles" of Brandywine have a better weapon type? Did the "English Rifles" version of the Ferguson rifle allow for the use a bayonet? I am working on a modified Historical Brandywine. I also would like to put together a scenario that covers the small action that occured in the morning near Chadd's Ford. Should the morale of the Queen's Rangers be increased as well as that of the "English Rifles"? A rating of "C" seems too low. At least a "B" if not an "A". In everything I am reading the Queen's Rifles proved themselves to be a fine unit. Havent seen as much on the "English Rifles". |
