Post subject: | "Pick a Partner N Play" Tournament |
Updates listed at top of this post: Match #1 - Jeff Bangma (British) vs. Jeff Laub (American)
Okay guys time for another impromptu "unofficial" tournament. (Heck, I'm not even a member of the club that's how "unofficial" it is![:D]) Here's how it goes. The scenario is for Campaign 1776. American and French army members will play as the Americans, while British and Indians will play as the British. Only two tournament rules exist. They are: 1) NO unit may exit the map. 2) For a game to 'officially' qualify 48 turns must be played. There won't be any website supporting the tournament (unless someone volunteers.) Perhaps this thread can become a 'sticky thread' for players to track their progress on. There won't be awards or medals (unless someone volunteers to make something.) Points for playing a club game will be awarded as long as you register the game as any other club game you would play in. Once you have your partner email me at albert_amos@sbcglobal.net and I'll send you both the scenario packet containing the map, oob, pdt and scn files, and I'll post the team pairings to this thread. The British Player starts. The game will be more suspenseful if you don't review the scenario prior to play. The tournament starts today, November 5th, 2005 and will continue until April 4, 2006. That gives everyone five months to complete the battle. The tournament scenario is a hypothetical attempt by General Howe to break the revolution by destroying General Washington's army. The game starts as a major defeat for the British. It can last as many as 192 turns, but MUST go at least 48 turns. As mentioned below the two armies are equal in Victory Points (except for leaders and supply points.) By inflicting 10% more damage (2,124 points) on the Americans than they suffer themselves, the British can win a major victory. So, if the British can destroy 10% more of the American Army than the percentage of their own army's losses then they earn a major victory. --------- 4:00 am June 28, 1776 *Hypothetical* General Washington's nearly 20,000 untried troops prepare to defend themselves against General Howe's 20,000 veteran English and German troops. The Americans hope the defensive works they prepared over the past few days will provide the extra edge they need to defeat the British, and preserve the revolution. NOTES: Modified Monmouth map. OOB for the Battle of Brooklyn in 1776. Non-standard pdt file. 192 turns. VPs: 1 point per infantryman; 4 points per cavalryman; 10 points per cannon; and 1 point per supply point. Not counting supply points and leader points, but including objective hex points the armies are of equal value: 21,242 Victory Points. |
