There is a discussiong going on in a Yahoo FIW re-enactment group concerning LI accourtments. Many are mentioning, with some historical commentaries, that the Brit LI carried hatchets instead of bayonets. Anyone know anything of this? Arming XLine Light Infantry with muskets sans bayonet would be an interesting balancing of unit capabilities. I wonder if this practice were true, did it extend into the Revolution? |
