Files for Indian Lake scenarios are up. Go to ...

Fort Somewhere is a fictious fort based on a map of Ft Edward in 1757. (Those playing in the SYW tournament may have played on that map already.) I haven't finished the French side of that oob file yet, but I'm getting there.

Indian Lake is a new map altogether. I have four scenarios ready for it. Indian Lake is an idea that may, if time permits, become a campaign someday. The first map is labeled pre54 meaning that this is the area the way it was before white men showed up in great numbers. There are five villages on the map (147x188 map size). The five tribes that live around Indian Lake are the Potawatami, Miami, Deleware, Shawnee and Mingo.

The first set of scenarios take place in 1753, and are sparked when the Miami tribe accept an English party of traders. One scenario sees the Shawnee and Potawatami attack the Miami over the issue. Another sees Charles Langlade bring a few hundred Huron, Ottawa, and Chippewa warriors to punish the Miami, Shawnee and Potawatami for trading with the English. Three scenarios, or more, will depict inter-tribal squabbling and pit the five tribes against each other in various combinations. Another will see the Iroquois come to the aid of their Mingo brethern in a fight against the other four tribes. I may make one where the Pays de Haut and Iroquois both show up.

A concept scenario pits the Deleware against the Mingo. Essentially, the Mingo have captured 3 Deleware boys, and the Deleware want them back. The concept being tried is how to depict hostages. I have the three boys represented as French Leaders (the Mingo are French in the scenario) and each are given 6 6 abilities. One is a B level leader while the other two are R level. The Deleware if they capture the three boys will earn 96 VPs. The Optional Rule awarding VPs for Leaders must be used for this scenario, for the concept to work.

Most of the terminology in the OOB file and on Map is in Native American tongue. I tried to put translations in the scenario description. I tried to create dynamic tribal groups showing how an entire village may have been organized, and how it could survive against enemy attacks.

The pdt file has been altered to allow faster waterborne movement, and a new weapon class has been introduced. I used the letter "I" for Individual Weapons. It is a scaled down version of the Small Arms weapons "D", but has no melee bonus. I intend to use this weapon for non-combatants in future scenarios. I modified the stock Weapons.dat file so this weapon type would show up in the unit box as Individual Wpns. This change will not adversely affect anything in the game system, and the file can overwrite your existing copy of it. IT IS AN UNOFFICIAL CHANGE, but you won't even know it exists unless the OOB in the scenario you're playing uses that weapon type.

The map is beautiful, imo. [;)] All along the shore line of the lake and the rivers you will see stream and creek hex sides. This will slow the embarkation/disembarkation of waterborne troops somewhat, and will prevent troops from landing anywhere. Reconning the waterways may be necessary so you know where you can get in and out of the water.

The men and boys comprising the various war parties are all given boats in the scenairos, but the non-combatants aren't. This gives the warriors the ability to cross all over the map, but should keep the families near home.

The scenarios are designed to be play human v human, but some can be played against the Ai with some levels of degregation in satisfactory outcome and play.

Hope you like the idea, and the scenarios. BTW, the 1754 map is done, too, and I'll be working on scenarios for the year 1754 during Sept and Oct.

Think of this project as a hypothetical, micro-representation of the French and Indian War. [:)]
