Hi Guys, I want to let my opponents know that I am almost recovered from a computer situation where my disk drive malfunctioned and I had to abruptly stop a number 1776 and FIW games. I am now relying not only on backed up files but also with a data recovery service. I should be back in the saddle in a week. I have several questions which I need our community's input on some install issues for my Win XP configuration: 1. When installing the 1776, FIW, and 1812 games should I type in a group directory file named "HPS" so all 3 games are grouped on the All Programs pop-up list above the Start button on lower left of screen? 2. For FIW I received a Component Transfer Error for the component and file group named Music Files and specific file D:\The French and Indian War\ Music British Grenadier.wav, and the error Data Error (cylic redundancy check). I retried 3 times with the same error. 3. For 1776 I received an error message; "String ISDX_ERR_SERVICEPACKNUM was not found in string table. 4. For 1812 I received a message after the install was completed referring to the Help File; "This is not a windows help file." and "A newer version of Help is needed to read this help file". Not sure what to do to correct this. With your help, I hope to be up and running ASAP! THANKS, in advance, for any guidance that you can provide!!!! |
