In 1784, a NEW state was formed from land North Carolina claimed. It is now part of Northeastern Tennessee. What was the name of this "state", that ALMOST was ratified as an actual state? Interestingly, it was formed to protect citizens from Indian attacks, when North Carolina and the US government could not. |
