Gentlemen, something's wrong with a Mexican-American War campaign I am playing but I can't guess what. My opponent, the esteemed & legendary British Major General Lord Reuter of Monmouth & I successfully negotiated the Strategic Interphase between battles 3 & 4 but once I received his opening move for Buena Vista trouble began. Whether I watched the Mexican replay or not, I received a Microsoft error message & the game closed. Repeated attempts only saw it open OK & even allow me to move units & execute formation changes but the game would eventually close with the same Microsoft error message whenever I clicked on the hex containing Maj Gen Zachary Taylor, Col Jeff Davis & the two Aides-de-camp Maj Bliss & Cpt Eaton (192, 301). Even when I saved the file before this would happen it opened back to what I had been sent with all American units in their At-Start positions. Very frustrating, particularly for my opponent who has replayed his opening move 3 times now in an effort to help me solve this. What further engenders my mystification & chagrin has been that 1) Lord Reuter & I have successfully completed an entire identical campaign (playing the opposite sides to what we are now playing), 2) have as I said, completed the 3 opening battles of this campaign with no problems, 3) that he has repeatedly reported no problems whatsoever on his end 4) & the fact that I have 4 other campaigns in-progress with two different opponents, including the Texas War of Independence, Scott's Central Campaign & 2 other Mexican-American War campaigns in addition to the one with Lord Reuter, none of which I am experiencing any difficulties with. Any suggestions or assistance that anyone might be able to bring forward will find two avid war-gamers most deeply grateful. |

I have a cleanup.bat that I periodically run & I'm fairly certain that I had tried that already but tried it again anyway, as well as the suggestion to run the scenario vs A/I. Vs the A/I the scenario played fine, both as a single scenario & as a component battle of the campaign in question, while removing the yyy & xxx files had no effect on my inability to play Lord Reuter's opening Mexican turn at Buena Vista, which opened & then closed with the error message as it has been doing. |
