Being snowbound this week has allowed my son and I to play some board games. We tried varient of Stratego where each player gets only one piece of each rank. Total of 12 pieces. Makes for an interesting game. ----- According to the rules set up time is 2 to 5 minutes while play time can be up to 60 minutes. We found with the 12 piece varient, set up time was about 60 minutes and play time was about 2 to 5! hehehe... Not quite that bad, but initial setup is crucial, and tracking losses is critical. An exciting game which saw me pull out a last minute win after losing my Marshal, Spy, General, Colonel and Major. Fortunately, I whittled him down to his Marshal only, and was able to approach his flag from two directions with my Cpt, Lt, and Sgt. ... poor Sgt had to sacrifice himself to pull his Marshal out of position to allow my Cpt to capture his flag. Great fun! Highly recommend it. ----- We've moved on to Sirocco. Fun game. Too bad I don't have the MiltonBradley game for the American Revolution. (too bad he doesn't like HPS, "ugly graphics" his words) al |
