Post subject:  Fiber Optic Diarama's Anyone?

I have become facinated by the use of fiber optic light strands that are used to create the effect of troop movements through a 3-D landscape. In essence, the lights can be colored to represent armies and the lighting can be timed to create various effects from stealthy movement to contact with the enemy, combat, routing, etc. The primary 3-D diarama that got me passionate about this eclectic hobby is the one that was created by the late Paul V. Winters and whcih can be seen at the Hubbardton battle site in Vermont. It is absolutely a gem to behold.

What I would like to request your help on are the following questions.

1. Who are the masters of this hobby genre?

2. How does the technology work specifically?

3. Can a layperson build one of these?

4. Besides the Hubbardton 3-D diarama do you have any other references on others?

5. I am looking to create a "community of interest" in this area that is specific to the Early American Wars that we all are so interested in. If you'd like to get on my distribution list, let me know and I will build a web site for it in the New Year 2012.
