![]() Latest Club News: 2013 Year in Review: On behalf of the Club Staff, I personally wanted to thank you all for making last year a really great gaming year in the Club! We had 173 games started and 215 games ended, which I think is excellent for a Club of under 100 members. The Summer Tourney, which I will highlight below, really brought the numbers up as over 1/3rd of the Club is participating in the Tourney. Also we got some help with the games in the way of new patches for War of 1812 & French and Indian War from HPS as well as Campaign 1776 & War of 1812 being made available for digital download on John Tiller Software's website. We also had a rather solid year for recruitment with 10 new members joining which is a record compared to previous years. The Club website got an upgrade in looks and all Club activities, like Medals, the Bounty and other various things were started up again & restored. It was a good year all around for us. Already in 2014 we have had 3 new members join and we are gearing up for more new things to happen. You can view our latest recruitment numbers here: http://www.wargame.ch/1776/Training_Center/summary.htm As well as our latest recruits here: http://www.wargame.ch/1776/Training_Center/records.htm -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Summer Tourney Update: The 2013 Summer Tourney, is still going on, we just never decided to change the name. We started off really well, had some issues in the Fall, but are back on track again. We've had 34 members participating in it so far, just over 1/3rd of the Club membership. It is a good group of people and we have played mostly custom mods from the Download Center, a few made by Steve Colon & Al Amos. We also have a good group of AGEOD players which are breathing new life into our use of those games here. They have been a great addition to our Club. The Tourney will continue and anyone is welcome to join in at any time! If interested email me: eric2900@aol.com -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bounty: The Bounty was reestablished last year and has had some good submissions to it. Remember it is free points for captured or killed officers in a game. It is optional to participate, but all are welcome to if they wish: http://www.wargame.ch/1776/Bounty/index.html -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- New Continental American Army Website: The Continental American Army website received two upgrades this past year. The initial one was to add some artwork to the website and some OOB changes, but this past winter the Club Staff worked together to design and a new and improved site. The new site is an accomplishment of group effort and work on behalf of the Club Staff. The final result really improves the look and marketability of the Army, but also preserves the basic structure that Mark Truitt laid out a couple years ago, something I felt was important to do. Be sure to stop by the site and take a look at it: http://www.wargame.ch/1776/Americans/index.html -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Other Club Page Redesigns: You guys may notice we increased the use of artwork across the website as well as in the forums. We felt it was good to add visualization to the Club sites and posts in an attempt to give better design appeal to them and also to show off the great artwork of artists who paint scenes from our era. In doing so, the Indian Alliance had some great artwork added to its pages too. It also has a new splash page I designed when you first link off to it. The site will also receive some other small upgrades to it, but again the initial design of Paul Wakeman will be kept intact. http://www.wargame.ch/1776/Indian_Alliance/index.html What we hope to do next is to provide artwork titles and the artists names for the artwork we use, so that people can know who did it and research it for themselves and learn more. Not only are we about gaming, we are about educating ourselves a bit on our period of warfare too. Something that can be extra fun for some of us. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- New Indian Alliance Chief: In September of last year the Club Staff named Lightning Chief Celamanka Noftz as the Interim Indian Alliance Chief serving as the head of a small but noble group of warriors in the Club. He gladly accepted the post and will work closely with the Club Staff to make sure that the Alliance is well looked after. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Awards Center: The awards center has been kept up to date and has seen its fair share of active members gaining awards from it. http://www.wargame.ch/1776/Award_Center/index.html -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2014 Plans for the Club: In 2014 the Club Staff has some great plans for the Club. To build upon our gains from 2013, once the website designs are all done, I will again ramp up recruitment posts in various places to draw attention to our Club and what we are doing. The Club is running very well these days and has a lot of activity going on in it, so now is a good time to get new people in. We launched a News Ticker on the main Club page, just above the armies: http://www.wargame.ch/1776/index.html It will have some but not all of the latest news posted to it. Letting folks know some recent highlights. Also for the first time ever, we are going to develop a Club Newsletter for sharing of information both related to the Club and also related to our games and era we play in. We have some Club members with interesting backgrounds that we will interview, that relates to our era of the games. We also hope to reach out and interview the artists of the art we use and maybe even have a forum discussion with them. We also plan to keep you all informed in a way that is helpful but not intrusive. We hope to strike a balance between the two. We are a fun, laid back place for everyone to game and enjoy themselves at, which is why we operate the way we do. We hope to continue that as time goes on. Also the Club Staff will consider other things that we think might be beneficial to the Club too. Also finally we are working on codifying a set of House Rules that will be all encompassing of our discussion that took place last summer. All in all we hope to build on this past years momentum, get more people involved, give us stuff to talk about and market the Club with and finally keep the Club focused on you all, with a fun, gaming focused, positive environment. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Club Site & Forum: Be sure to drop by the main Club website for the latest: http://www.wargame.ch/1776/index.html Be sure to visit the forum for all sorts of news & activity, we have been busy lately: index.php If you forget your login & password, let me know so I can get Ernie Sands to help you get setup again in the forum. As always If you're having trouble finding opponents let me know and I'll see what I can do. I hope everyone has a great weekend!
