Gentlemen of all sides, little more than a month ago, I had the opportunity to visit the fortress of Seringapatam in India, which the British stormed twice, 1792 and 1799. (Wellington led a brigade there, before he became famous) Ever read the book "Sharpe's Tiger"? This is the place where it happened. The pics are mainly taken from the defenders' PoV and the walls have been repaired where the breach was, but you can see the river the storm column crossed to get to the breach and the wall as it is today. http://s777.photobucket.com/user/xvii-B ... and%201799 |
