After an extended absence, I would like to mark my return to the field of battle by embarking on the grand Eckmuhl-Wagram campaign game. I'm unfamiliar with all the new optional rules, but am willing to negotiate as to their use.

Please, no rookies. Only veteran players should respond.

Yours, etc.,

Paco

Hi Francisco,

are you still looking for opponents?

What do you think about grand campaign 2vs.2 as MP game?

I think he was talking about campaign mode (the one that uses the cp_start.exe) since it has a version that spans both the Eckmuhl-Wagram (save file carries over) game. However, it breaks up the major Eckmuhl battle into various smaller ones. Not sure if it can be played easily 2 vs 2. (Might be doable, but it might be hard to break up the forces between the players since only portions of the armies show up in each minor battle)

However, playing just the Eckmuhl battle (534 turns) 2 vs 2 could also be interesting.

Mssrs.,

I don't know why, but I did not receive the automatic reply usually generated when someone replies to a post on the forum.

To answer your questions:

1) I am referring to the "Campaign" option in which you launch a "Campaign" in Eckmuhl which sends you through a series of battles. If at the end of the Eckmuhl Campaign a decisive victory has not been achieved by either side, the campaign is continued with the Wagram game.

2) I was expecting a one-on-one battle, but I would be open to a multi-player game. However, the structure of the "Campaign" system does not lend itself readily to an MP game. The monster "HISTORICAL.scn" (500+ turns) would probably be the best option for an MP game.

3) Being very much a groignard, there are a number of Optional Rules that I WILL NOT use: VP for Leader Casualties; Threat Movement Disorder; No Detached Melee; Column Movement Restriction; No Opp Fire Against Skirmishers. I will spare you an extended exposition on my reasons for opposing those Optional Rules, suffice to say that nothing will change my mind as to their employment.

4) No disrespect intended (I was once new and unskilled too), but I meant it when I said that I was only interested in playing against veteran, Allied players. The same would apply to an MP partner, which would encompass Gen. Blackburn, but not Lt. Miccio.

With the above caveats, I am open to playing either a one-on-one "Campaign" or the "HISTORICAL" scenario as an MP game.

Yours, etc.

Paco

Hi Francisco,

Both me and Aldo are veteran players in boardgames and the same in HPS Sim and after WDS.We've been playing wargames since the late 70's.We have played with SPI,GMT,TSR etc. games. So it doesn't matter the rank.

Hi Francisco sorry but I'm replying to you, after reading that you don't play with recruits do you think if I put my post I'm so stupid that I'll make a fool of myself? just no by the way I've also played with Ed Blackburn in the past. No offense though, don't judge by the titles before the name.
You would have done a more elegant thing by asking me my level. rest assured I am up to your standards as a game and ready to play a salute from a humble Lt. Aldo

Mssrs.,

I intended no disrespect, but there is a difference between being an experienced gamer and knowing the intricacies of Tiller's Nap game engine. That said, let me suggest the following:

1) I will play the Eckmuhl/Wagram Campaign game vs. David Stoll the first Allied player to respond.

2) I would invite Ed, Aldo & Giovanni to join me in an MP game of the 500+ turn Eckmuhl scenario, Ed and I vs. Aldo and Giovanni. I want the following Optional Rules to be ON (All others OFF):

Isolation
Melee Terrain
Column Pass Through
Target Density
Auto Def Fire
Night Movement Fatigue
Weak ZOC
Line Movement Restriction
Flank Morale Mod
Multiple Cav Melees
No Opp Fire vs. Skirmishers
No Melee Eliminations
Mixed Org Penalty
Strict LOS

If this is acceptable, write to me at mfpalomo3@comcast.net and I will start the game.

Regards,

Paco
