Post subject:  Looking for a short campaign CLOSED

Looking for an opponent to try my first campaign. Seeking to maximise the authentic experience playing with an element of fog of war offered by campaign mode only: not knowing enemy’s force composition, location, timing of arrivals etc.

1. A manoeuvre or a fight
2. Will play any side.
3. Any Napoleonic title except for Peninsular theatre
4. Seeking for weekly rate of +/-7 turns for quicker turns and ok to go slower once there is more action. I am in Central European Time.
5. Only 3 and very simple to follow House rules:
HR1: No unlimbering artillery in obstructed hexes
HR2: No unlimbered artillery in the same hex with infantry squares (have to move either unit or unlimber if pushed into such position by melee)
HR3: No meleeing with infantry + cavalry units simultaneously.

6. Gentlemen’s conduct is expected not to open opponents’ save files and to enjoy a game with a true fog of war.
7. Optional Rules image below
8. Prefer an opponent with some game record and experience.

Minor PDT changes suggested:
9. For non-standardised PDT titles: artillery melee values are to be set to 8 via PDT files.
10. For titles with smaller squadrons PDT amendment can be discussed to set the squadron fraction to 1/1 but depends on the title.

Post subject:  Re: Looking for a short campaign

Good day Alexey,

I would be interested. Not sure what exactly a short campaign means.
But I think the Suvarov's Campaign 1799 (from Marengo) might fit (probably skip the first battle and start with the one where Suvarov is present). Though, the first battles has only a few Russian troops (a mixed forced of Austrian and Russians) it is around 3-4 battles. Losses don't carry over in-between battles for this campaign though.
Otherwise, I would be interested in the "Winter Polish Campaign" from Eylau (start with Russian Winter Offensive - [Pultusk and Golymin battle is basically broken in the campaign game]) I have played it as the Allied previously. Those I probably play as French to keep things fair and interesting.

For rules,
My only suggestion would be to play with the Fire Phase (Manual Defensive Fire) but let the AI handle the firing for the non-active player (Auto Defensive Fire).
I think battery vs battery combat works that way a lot better. Quite useful for Eylau since the Russian have a ton of artillery in that campaign.

For House rules:
I would add that players can't charge through obstructed terrain, they can charge into it but not through it. I have seen that people charge through woods, rivers and walls with that since
charge ignores movement points after the initial combat. Quite unrealistic.
