Napoleonic Wargame Club (NWC)

I was bested by Capitaine Marco Ranalli in our Battle of Amberg game from RBR. I had to call the battle after he had taken the 4th Austrian artillery battery and smashed up numerous cavalry and infantry units. The score was well below zero with me being the attacking side.

So I raise my glass to this fine commander. Allied players: watch out. Don't let his rank fool you. Marco is a fine player and his command of the English language is superb! I highly recommend him if you are looking for an opponent from the French army.

Thanks again, Marco and I will forward to our next battle.

Allied officers: I hope to post some tips on the battle for our side soon in the Coalition Tavern. Its very deceptive and the Allies have to play a cautious game or else lose too many units.

For Club Games: I prefer the Single Phase mode of play. I prefer to play with the following options OFF:

MDF, NRO, MTD, CMR, PR, MIM, NDM, OMR (ver 4.09)

It seems that Capitaine Ranalli has once again demonstrated that, on the battlefield, rank matters far less than the ability to command one's troops. Congratulations to him on his victory, and equally to you for the sportsmanship with which you have acknowledged the skill of your opponent.

As an officer of the Russian cavalry, I shall certainly make a note of the name… and should I one day see Marco's French Eagles appearing on the other side of the battlefield, I will make sure that a few squadrons of cuirassiers are close at hand.

I also look forward to reading your thoughts on Amberg in the Coalition Tavern. A better understanding of this battle might prevent another Allied commander from leaving his artillery — and too many of his men — in French hands!
